Communication:
We want to stay in close touch with you. We will be sending home notes and newsletters to keep you informed of classroom activities. A Fall and Spring conference will be scheduled with your child's teacher.
Please keep in mind that teachers cannot come to the phone during classroom hours. On all routine matters, (i.e. classroom or curriculum changes, progress, etc.) teachers will be glad to provide you with whatever information you might need. Please call after dismissal or send a note.
Our phone number here at the high school is (781) 270-1808. If no one answers this phone, and you have a serious emergency, you can get a message to us through the main switchboard at (781) 270-1800 (Ask for the Early Childhood Program in Open Space "B").
IEP MEETINGS:
If your child has an Individual Education Program (IEP), the TEAM will meet once yearly. The meeting is on or before the 1 year date of your last meeting. IEP’s are reviewed yearly to look at progression towards goals and benchmarks.
If your child is on an IEP, three times a year you will receive a progress report from your child’s teachers and therapist about your child’s progress towards achieving his/her IEP goals.
Classroom Observations:
We welcome and encourage you to visit your child's classroom. In order to control the flow of visitors and minimize disruption to the children, please schedule an appointment to observe with the program coordinator, and check in at the office anytime you arrive in the building. There is a "doorbell" which allows you to speak to someone in the office, who will buzz you into the preschool.
CORI Information: Further information may be found at CORI
Anyone who is interested in volunteering in the classrooms or spending time at the integrated preschool program will need to fill out a CORI form. This can be done in the Superintendent’s office. Unfortunately, you will be unable to volunteer in you child’s classroom until the CORI form is returned.
Class Parties: ONLY Latex Free Balloons.
Birthdays
We would enjoy participating in your child's special day. If you would like to send in a treat, please make arrangements with your child's teacher. Please check with you child’s classroom teacher about the item you are planning on bringing in. We have many students with food allergies and we want to make sure all of our friends can participate in the celebration.
Allergies
We have many students with food allergies. Always check with your child’s classroom teacher before sending in food.
Dress Code:
When dressing your child for school, please keep in mind that preschool children are active learners. They spend much of their day exploring the classroom and environment. We spend a lot of time doing fun, hands-on, messy activities. Please dress your child in comfortable clothes that can go in the washer machine and dryer. Many children are most comfortable in sneakers.
Change of Clothing
Please send in a change of clothing (2 changes if accidents are frequent) and a sweater. Make sure that each item of clothing is marked with your child's name. Also, when buying boots for winter, please try to find ones that come on and off easily. |
