Dear Parents/Guardians, Families, and Others,

Welcome to Memorial School located in Burlington, M A just one half mile west of Rt.128 on Winn Street. The school serves approximately 280 children in kindergarten through grade five.
Memorial School teachers and staff combine the latest research with time-tested methods and materials to provide all children with a well-rounded education. In addition to the academics, Memorial offers a full complement of special subjects and services. We have a full time counselor; two reading teachers; a full time nurse; art, music and physical education specialists; a computer resource teacher, a media specialist; and a full service special education team. Our custodial and cafeteria staffs do an excellent job maintaining the building and providing food service. The principal and secretary work directly with the Superintendent's office and central administration staff planning and coordinating services for all children attending Memorial School.
In the area of computers and technology, all classrooms, the computer lab, and offices at Memorial School are connected to the Internet. Each classroom has at least one new PC and one MAC. In addition, the school has 28 Alphasmart word processors, two laptops, large screen monitors with disk players/VCR's, digital cameras, a multimedia projector, and computer compatible robotic kits. The purpose of computers and technology at Memorial School is to help make teaching and learning more creative, efficient, and relevant in all subject areas.

Memorial School is dedicated to pursuing four central goals:

    1. Students and staff will feel happy, safe, and secure in school.

    2. Students and staff will treat each other with dignity and respect.

    3. Students will be proficient in the core curriculum areas.

    4. Memorial School families and the community will be actively involved.

Each of these goals is supported by a set of objectives with specific activities designed to achieve each objective. Our strategic plan depends on all members of the school community working together so that every child has an equal opportunity to a quality education and school life.

Sincerely,

Robert Teel, Principal
