Joan F. Miles Library Procedures:
- The library is used for
class projects, individual research, and quiet reading.
- Scheduled classes have
priority use of the Internet Lab, Research Room, Laptops, and
main sitting areas of the library. Study hall students may use
computers if available.
- Students sign into the
library with official BHS passes signed by their subject teacher.
- Study Teachers may call
the Circulation desk at the library (x5649), to see if there is
room.
- No food or drink may be
consumed in the library.
- Students are expected to
work quietly and treat media center equipment with care.
Internet Procedures:
- The Internet is available
for class projects and individual school related research.
- Chat Rooms, IM,
and games are not allowed.
Borrowing Procedures:
- Students may borrow books,
and audio tapes from the general collection for a 3-week period.
Items not requested by another student may be renewed.
- Reference books may be
borrowed overnight. Overnight means from the close of that school
day until the beginning of the next school day.
- Periodicals and videos
may be borrowed for two days.
- Reserved books, placed
on a cart for a specific class, may be borrowed overnight or information
may be photocopied.
- Students who fail to return
books on time will receive a notice in homeroom from the library
staff. Outstanding obligations will result in borrowing privileges
being withdrawn.
- Students
who have not returned borrowed library materials or who have not
paid the replacement fee for lost books by the end of the school
year, will have their academic schedules held in the main office.
Violations:
Students violating library rules will lose their media privileges
and may be assigned detention.
