Fox Hill - Technology

At Fox Hill, computers and technology are being used to stimulate inquiry as well as foster collaboration, communication, problem solving, and criticial thinking. Technology tools challenge and motivate a wide range of students to analyze, synthesize, evaluate and express information and ideas in compelling ways that will prepare them for the demands of the 21st century.

Technology use is most effective when integrated throughout the curriculum, and the the use of technology at Fox Hill strives to support and enhance the curriculum. Computers and technology at Fox Hill are used to teach and support students in all academic areas grades K-5. Students are in the computer lab creating Powerpoint slideshows about their latest social studies project, editing poems on mobile laptops, using handheld remotes to answer muptiple choice questions on a projected computer screen as they review for a science test, and searching Athena for a new book in the library. No matter where it is being used, appropriate uses of technology and Internet safety strategies are always explained and reinforced.

Today's students are at an advantage if they emerge from their elementary education with a solid grounding in fundamental technological skills, and it is my hope to best use the technology available in our school to meet the learning needs of our students and the instructional needs of our teachers.

Instruction is enhanced through teachers using computers and projectors to present information to students. Several LCD projectors, as well as 4 interactive whiteboards (1 in each pod!) are available for teachers to use in their classrooms. Teachers and staff are also able to sign out one of the several digital cameras available in the library. In addition to the lab computers, 10 additional Mini NetBooks will be available soon for student use in a mobile cart or COW. (Computers on Wheels)

Teachers are encouraged to benefit from the use of technology to enhance and extend their teaching, add more interactive learning experiences for their students, and revitalize the enjoyment of teaching.
